Monthly Review - May 2023
During the last month, our team has made the decision to found a new lab, Swiss'Carb, to give people the opportunity to benefit from our services in prototyping, from our professional equipment and our expertise in composite materials. This choice has many consequences in our company's organization, but the work carried out for Swiss' Carb will not draw on the resources needed to manufacture our aircraft.
In the meantime, the team in the workshop is completing the fuselage of the UR-1, the first Swiss all-electric race plane, while our engineering team is focusing on completing the UG-2 (our general aviation prototype) preliminary design, where issues related to the tail came out, so probably its design will be more interesting than expected. This part is crucial for aerodynamics so our engineering team is reflecting about all the possible solutions and carrying out a lot of tests to finalize it. In the last weeks, another important step we made was to complete the conceptual design of the landing gear, which is now over.
In addition, an important advancement made in May concerns what we have defined the "aspirated wing" of UG-2. Indeed, we made a bench test of high-lift fans placed in the wing by powering them.
Basically the last month was more focused on defining new strategies in the manufacturing and designing procedures than in employing resources for carrying out projects without knowing what benefit to get from them and, generally speaking, we have now begun preparing ourselves to another challenge we will face in the next months (we will gladly share with you more details in the near future).
Carrying out the manufacturing and the design process of two aircraft at the same time is not a piece of cake, but we are convinced that with a strong team nothing is impossible.
