Monthly review - January 2023

After a short break during Christmas vacation, our company came back at work full of energies. In particular, we are now living an exciting new stage in which we are seeing our project moving forward. Indeed, the team had the best start for 2023 by beginning manufacturing several parts of the first fully electric race plane, UR-1. So, from the mind of our engineering team the project is definitely moving towards the reality.

First of all, the team is working on one of our top-priorities, the fuselage. In the past weeks, we have already begun laminating it and now the "body" of UR-1 is concretely taking shape. Another part which is near to be finalised is one of the ailerons, which has been remade because the previous ones no longer met our quality standards. Secondly, our team has also manufactured and tested the aluminium plates of the control surface of the wing. In addition, thanks to our CNC machine, we have also manufactured one of the push rod rod ends in high quality aluminium to actuate the aircraft's control surfaces. You can watch in the video below its milling.

Moreover, while a consistent part of our team is working on manufacturing UR-1, we left some space for the future. So, there are some of our experts already involved in the wind tunnel tests and in "drag analysis" of UG-2, the general aviation aircraft we have designed last year and we aim to start prototyping before the end of 2023.

In conclusion, the first month of January is almost gone and we are glad to see our company every day closest to accomplish its goals.

The Milling of a push rod rod end
In this procedure we use the 4th axis of the machine to be able to manufacture it. It is always surprising how a small part like this one placed in the aileron or in the tail is able to potentially make the difference for the aerodynamics of an entire aircraft.

Achievements

Engineering:
  • Fuselage lamination in progress
  • One of the ailerons close to be finalised
  • Manufacturing of aluminium plates of the control surface of the wing
  • Manufacturing of one of the push rods

Communication and Marketing:

Short Outlook

A relevant news is that we expect in the next weeks to post an article on our website to disclose some interesting details about our work.
Generally speaking, during this month we expect to work on the fuselage and on the ailerons as well.
